TRAMONTINA is the Brazilian brand of cooking utensils and barbecue accessories – Churrasco – since 1911 when Valentin Tramontina, the son of Italian immigrants, together with his wife, founded a small blacksmith shop in the city of Carlos Barbosa in the southernmost Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Soon the name Tramontina became increasingly known and appreciated for its high-quality and durable knives. The roots of these traditional tools lie in Churrasco, the centuries-old culture of the Gauchos, that is, the Brazilian cowboys, the cattle herders with their horses that continue to characterize southern Brazil to this day. If in the past Gauchos gathered around the fire in the evenings and told stories while enjoying grilled or ember meat, today they no longer have to prepare meat to survive but they still value the grill and fire just like their predecessors and see in Churrasco a lifestyle, of enjoying good food, fun and friendship.
The small blacksmith shop has grown steadily and today Tramontina has 10 factories in Brazil, a vast product range and over 10,000 employees worldwide. Despite all the expansion over the decades, Tramontina's focus has remained on cutting tools and barbecue accessories. Tramontina knives and barbecue accessories are used successfully by Gauchos at Churrasco but are equally appreciated in households, in the catering industry, among professional chefs, barbecue enthusiasts and pizza lovers all over the world. Why? Very simple. Tramontina offers exactly the right „tool” for every application, always using only high-quality raw materials, which they process with the utmost care – for optimal functionality and exceptional longevity.
